To Members of OMIK:

Once again we are on the cusp of another great convention. As one of the Pearls of the South, Baton Rouge, Louisiana is an ideal location at this point in time for a convention to showcase all that the region has to offer. Spectacularly beautiful, with history and great things to see, wonderful Cajun and Creole cuisine, it is also economical when compared with similar attractions elsewhere.

We were blessed in having Amos (W5SJL) and Bounita (W5BTF) Favorite, the original National Convention Chairs, pick up the organization and execution of this convention. They are backed up by the youngest, yet dynamic OMIK affiliated club (The Capitol City OMIK Association, Incorporated), the energetic 5th Call Area—led by Tim Sonnier (N5RKK), and the ever striving HiFivers. How can they miss?!!!

We intend to have great technical sessions, tours, much in-hotel activity, mobile shootouts, and a hospitality suite and radio room to kick back in up to 18 hours a day.  If you have not received an OMIK cap from other conventions, you will also receive one of them.

I remind you that this is an election year, with all positions being available. It is time to start focusing on what you’d like our leadership to look like for the next two years. Better, put your own hat in the ring and help to get us to the next level.
